“The Coordination Committee of Major Islamic Centres and Mosques of London has agreed that Eid al-Fitr will be on Friday 17th July 2015″

After an intense month of fasting, remembering the guidance of the Qur’an and those less fortunate, we come together and celebrate with food, prayers and a special khutbah (sermon). Bring some food or drink to share, inshallah the sun will shine and if the heavens open we’ll be in our usual prayer space at Oxford House on the edge of Weaver’s Fields. Inshallahh we’ll see you there, salaam.

As we are an entirely voluntary run and funded organisation, a donation in advance or on the day of only £5 helps towards us organisaing events like this and securing our own mosque space eventually, if you can donate more than that would also be most welcomed. Eid-ul-fitr Takbeer

Eid Takbeer (a call to remember and cry out the name Allah) is a Sunnah of the prophet (pbuh). It is recited in a low voice while going to Eid prayers and ceases when you reach the prayer location. The format of Eid Takbeer is broad in scope, because the command is to say Takbeer in general, and the Messenger (pbuh) did not single out any particular format of Takbeeraat. Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):

“and that you must magnify Allah [i.e. to say Takbeer (Allahu-Akbar; Allah is the Most Great) for having guided you” [Surah al-Baqarah 2:185].

Example Eid-ul-fitr Takbee

الله أكبر، الله أكبر، الله أكبر، لا إله إلا الله . والله أكبر ، الله أكبر ، ولله الحمد

Transliteration:

Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La-ilaha Illallah Wallahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Wa-lil-lahil hamd
Translation:

Allah is Great, Allah is Great, Allah is Great, There is no Deity but Allah, Allah is Great, Allah is Great, and praise is due to Her.
