Did you know that the Sahaba not only enjoyed a good laugh but played pranks and had funny nicknames for each other? Ever wondered why laughter seems to be frowned upon in so many traditional understandings and whether that is true or not?
PhD candidate Yasmin Amin talked about her specialist subject: Humour in the Hadith.
Yesterday’s event was so thought provoking, inspiring and interesting, I just wanted to say thank you IMI for organising it. I was really impressed with how knowledgable Yasmin is, mash’Allah and the Q and A was fascinating…. I was sincerely surprised at how humorous and witty the Prophet and sahaba were, it was like glimpsing a whole different side to our traditions! It made me want to be a better Muslim and learn more about Hadiths and how they got recorded too. Also the atmosphere was so friendly, I met some fantastic new people, and am really glad I went. Thankyou!
